    loved it.

  3. Shen Says:

That was phat! It’s kinda Tech House and Tech Trance in one. Makes me miss the good ol’ days!

  4. Jamie Says:

Good stuff! deep rich sounds, progressed well and sounds full with out sounding too heavy

  5. Gotti Says:

Very good. You seem to be going a bit trancey lately, at least the last few things I’ve heard are fairly, but it’s not like over the top cheesy trancey stuff, it’s still understated enough to go into a techno set it seems. Over all very good, and I really like the drums in the background, adds a lot to the total composition.
Any word from any of the record company’s?
BTW, what’s lektrostatic, and should I be worried about picking it up when I drag my feet on the carpet?

  6. davidian Says:

that’s some heady ssshhhhiiiii man, it needs as big ass rocknroll guitar solo though!!! And maybe some party robots chanting party slogans throughout it. And maybe a guy moaning at the end . . .

  7. Bruce Says:

    One word: YUMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Jen Says:

I loved it, it was nice and trancey, but not cheesy. The way it should be. Keep u the good work.

  9. Tammy Says:

    I dig it!

  10. Gaia Says:

I think it is real good. My tendency if I was in the studio with you would be to occassionaly filter and add some synced delay to the clap/snare – just once in a while. Really excellent work. Thanks for the message Andy. btw I think it is really interesting that you posted all the stem parts. IS that so people can remix it?

    peace

Sounds tight and up to par with some of the electronica stuff I hear on BeatPort. Now get it out there!!!

  12. chameleon Says:

Sounds great. Feels like floating on bubbles with lasers holding them up. Rock steady…..

  13. Kelly Says:

I’d buy and play that in a heartbeat! congrats!

  14. dL Says:

nice track, reminds of some old Eevo Lute sounding stuff or dutch techno from the like of Erik Van Den Broek. keep it up. the gated sound is sweet. miss this old sound sometimes.

  15. Dan Nordmann Says:

Excellent work Andy! The synth work is exquisite! Very liquidy and lush. The sound reminds me of the original Trance expresions on Eye-Q and the likes of ‘Earth Nation’. The arp work is distinct and begs for several revisits to explore the soundscape. Evocative and pristine.

    Nice work indeed—

PLease post when you have new work!

    Thanks—

    Dan

  16. Kyle T Says:

    Very nice indeed …

  17. Steve Says:

Andy, I like it alot…I realize that the Crystal arp is the moving force in this track, but when it first comes in, it overpowered and distracted me a little from the drums and bass…Which in my opinion makes this track a great track.. All in all, i really liked it…keep it up and keep in touch…steve

  18. Danny Dusselberry Says:

I love the “batch patch” in combination with the marching 808 kicks.

  19. Tonya Says:

I’m totally diggin it. Techy/Trancy = but the perfect blend of both. Made me do the couch wiggle – because I’m still on my first cup of coffee and not awake enough yet to start dancing aroung the living room. :-) Great way to start my morning. Keep em coming!

  20. SAIBOGU Says:

Your Track has a funky-groove. I felt as if I was inside some underground mission command control center, you know, with people working in a fast-pace environment, winking L.E.Ds’ and large display screens. Remember, as long as you speak from your heart you will not miss your mark.

  21. thanotos Says:

Man i love it! Although i am not a huge fan of melody heavy stuff…that’s the schranz in me talking, but I am very impressed overall by this track. The bass is especially rich. I look forward to future stuff.

  22. Soren LaRue Says:

enjoyed the music. very chill and well layered. very ethereal and warm.

Alright Andy! …. reminds me of the time u came by at 6:30am here to spin some music w/a glass of wine bringing us into the day w/an escape of trippy synths and bouncy pingpong basslines …keep it up u oldskooler!

  29. andy Says:

The breakdowns in this post are just for fun to give people an idea of how a track is put together. Oh, and I thought that producers would like to get pointers to good plugs.

I’d love for people to remix stuff, I’ve given pieces parts a couple times, but nothing’s gotten actually finished yet…

  30. andy Says:

I do remember. Such wonderful parties you had!

  31. archetyp / ele-mental cru Says:

nice work andy! this takes me back to those deep chicago late night jams. classic basslines and deep grooves. diggin it. you should send a few tracks out to labels. keep workin it. -c out

  32. kikoman Says:

Nice selection of sounds with great potential. Now!Where’s my copy at?

  33. andy Says:

That’s right, don’t drag your feet.

  34. Andy Says:

Oh yeah, DJax was one of my favorites. I liked the music and Alan Oldham’s art.

  35. andy Says:

Yeah I see what you mean, I’m gonna do the next mix of this a little different and bring in the arps one at a time and fade them in instead of just blasting them.

  36. Dominic Says:

first, as others remarked on the blog, it sounds like early 90s trance (slow trance), though the arp effect is at a faster pace than the bassline

second, it’s not really my cup of tea, to be honest. there’s no “edge” to the record (no wit or irony or transgressive fun, no street tuffness, no subcultural X-factor), and no element of sonic innovation or weirdness. moreover, there’s nothing that i would recognize as “soul” or “groove” in the record.

which may all be just a bit too harsh! you can probably chalk most of this reaction up to my being more of a house-to-disco-to-rock person than a techno-to-trance-to-prog person

techno purists would probably be more generous in their assessment. and as for the sound quality, i’m in no position to judge as my computer has a poor sound system (no speakers hooked up to it)

  37. andy Says:

Well yeah I am reliving the glory days of my youth, trying to recreate the early 90′s techno sound. I think most people go through a phase of recreating things they admire. Hopefully I’ll graduate to making really original stuff someday, but then as you point out, originality is relative to your immersion in a particular genre.

I’m not a hipster, I like to think of myself as a earnestly naive person who thinks music can be about emotions and not just about coolness or making a statement.

But most important, you definitely raise some great points about weaknesses in my approach and I’m so glad you stopped by.

  38. TheLazy4[] Says:

I love it Andy! Keep going!
